Bio 

Lisa Mayes is an artist born in and resides in amiskwacîwâskahikan (Beaver Hills), Treaty 6 or Edmonton, AB, where she is an Assistant Professor of Studio Arts at MacEwan University. Lisa holds an MFA in Intermedia Art from the University of Alberta and a BFA in Studio Art and Art Education from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. 

Lisa’s interdisciplinary practice encompasses painting, sculpture, sound installation, and digital media. Her research on diasporic identity delves into the interaction of land, languages, visual culture, and intersectional representation. Her work has been exhibited nationally, in Edmonton, Vancouver, and Montreal, at the Royal Alberta Museum, FAB Gallery, Alberta Art Gallery, Scott Gallery, and Latitude 53.
